Sophie and the Gymnastics Vault

I had a feeling that gymnastics was going to be Sophie’s favorite Olympic sport – but I didn’t guess that she was going to try the vault first! But after watching Simone Biles on the vault during the 2016 Olympics, I can understand why she’d want to! I might suggest she starts with some somersaults on the floor! The vault is also called a horse – maybe because there is a sport in the horse-riding world where athletes do gymnastics […]

Olympics!

Looks like Sophie and Sadie are getting into the Olympic spirit! What do you think their favorite sport is to watch? Every flag in the world has at least one of the colors (blue, yellow, black, green, and red) of the Olympic rings. (Actually there are six colors – can you guess what the sixth color is?! – It’s the white in the background!) The reason there are 5 rings is to show 5 of the continents that most people […]

Tractor ride

Looks like Sophie and Sadie are having some fun riding around on the tractor! The word tractor comes from the Latin word ‘to pull!’ I guess that makes sense. Usually tractors are carrying bigger things than a little girl cactus! Can you imagine a tractor that is so big it has 12 tires – and the tires are as big as a grown up person!? Crazy! Lemonade Stand

I know that it’s summer when I see lemonade stands popping up! I don’t know about where you live, but where we live it’s really hot and lemonade is the perfect drink to cool down. There is evidence that people were drinking lemonade in Egypt a long time ago (1500 years ago!) – which I can understand…it’s really hot there! I’m wondering if Sadie is going to drink all of the lemonade! Click on the image below, or click here, to open […]

Sprinkler fun

Running through the sprinkler has to be one of the funnest things about summer! This type of sprinkler was invented because people wanted green grass – and so it needed to be watered. Now there are much more water saving ways to keep your grass green…but lucky for Sophie and Sadie they still have one that makes water in the shape of a fan! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start […]

Happy Birthday Number Four!

Yay – we’re four years old! Well, the website is and I’ve been putting up coloring pages almost every Thursday (except for major holidays) every week. Thanks for following our adventures! Did you know that cupcakes really used to be baked in cups!? Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Collage – Matisse, Icarus, and Sadie

People have been making collages for hundreds of years – but it was artists including Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso that brought it to modern art. A famous collage by Matisse is called Icarus, who in Greek Mythology was the one who wanted to fly. I want to to – and I think Sadie does also! How about you? The word collage comes from the French word for glue. You don’t have to actually use glue to make a collage […]

Sculpture – Egypt Ushabti

Looks like Max made it to the museum as well! Who doesn’t like learning about Ancient Egypt?! These sculptures by the Ancient Egyptians are called Ushabti. They were buried (sometimes hundreds of them – and sometimes they were small and sometimes they were big) with the dead and expected to servants to them in whatever came next. The hieroglyphics on their legs was their contract saying they were willing to work! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the […]

Turnstiles at the museum

Sophie and Sadie are visiting a museum. All museums want to know how many people visit – some have people with number clickers at the entrance and others use turnstiles like these. You’ll find all different types of turnstiles in all different places – but they were originally invented for farmers who needed a way that they could leave the pasture and their animals couldn’t follow them (and couldn’t go off on adventures of their own!). Click on the image […]

Hockey

Did you know that before ice hockey pucks were invented, frozen cow poop was used as a puck!  Wow, the things we learn.  There are lots of different ways to play hockey – on ice, on roller skates, on the street, under water, with a ball, with a puck… Sophie and Max are playing street hockey – looks like fun! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!
