Pumpkin time!

Sophie and Sadie are wandering through a pumpkin patch – just in time for Halloween! There are lots of different kinds of pumpkins – some are better for eating and some are better for carving. They are native to North America, but now they are grown on every continent except for Antarctica! And now we are 5! Happy Birthday

So, that must have been the secret – and the reason to go to the grocery store! It’s our birthday and we are 5 years old. Those cakes look yummy, don’t you think?! Thanks to all of our friends –  we love you! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Melting Snowman

There comes a time in every snowman’s life that they must melt…but it’s sometimes sad just the same! It’s sweet that Sadie is trying to prom the snowman back up! Actually the biggest snowman that has ever been built was actually a snowwoman! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Icicles!

Most of the time we see icicles on houses – but they are so beautiful when they grow on trees! And they are fun to touch and hold, but you have to be careful because they can be very heavy! Icicles grow when it’s freezing cold and sunny. The sunlight melts the ice and snow – and it starts to drip. But then the freezing cold air makes it turn into ice again. Every drip that turns to ice adds […]

Puddles

It doesn’t look like Sophie’s umbrella is going to help her stay dry with Sadie jumping in the puddle! Puddles have a funny definition – basically they are any water that is shallow enough to walk through and not deep enough to float a boat or raft. I think a better definition is ‘fun to splash in!’ Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Hay Ride

For some people hay season may mean allergies – for farmers it means getting food stored for the winter for their animals – for the rest of us it means all the lovely things that come with fall…including hay rides! Sometimes tractors pull the wagon and sometimes it’s horses. Hay is the name for dried grass. Farmers pile it into hay stacks, roll it into round bales, or squash it into rectangular shaped blocks. Sadie and the shot put

Well, it looks like Sadie has figured out an Olympic sport that works well for having one frond (cactus arm) – the shot put! She was super excited that Michelle Carter was the first woman in the US to win a gold medal in shot put in the Olympics. I haven’t told her how heavy the actual shot puts are…the women’s shot (the ball is called the shot) weighs 8.8 pounds (4kg) and men’s shot weighs 16 pounds (7kg) – […]

Sprinkler fun

Running through the sprinkler has to be one of the funnest things about summer! This type of sprinkler was invented because people wanted green grass – and so it needed to be watered. Now there are much more water saving ways to keep your grass green…but lucky for Sophie and Sadie they still have one that makes water in the shape of a fan! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start […]

Hockey

Did you know that before ice hockey pucks were invented, frozen cow poop was used as a puck!  Wow, the things we learn.  There are lots of different ways to play hockey – on ice, on roller skates, on the street, under water, with a ball, with a puck… Sophie and Max are playing street hockey – looks like fun! tire swing!

Wow – this is really a fun swing! Don’t you wish you were on it with Sophie and Sadie? There are so many old tires that are starting to be recycled in very cool ways – as tire swings, of course!, and also under playgrounds to make the ground softer and more bouncy and also mixed into the asphalt on highways to make them last longer. Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, […]
