Bloated Belly!

Well, they didn’t eat the WHOLE thing, but pretty close! Those are some full bellies I see there. The word ‘belly’ comes from the Old English word for a stuffed bag! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Grocery cart

What do you think Sophie and Sadie are buying at the grocery store!? Did you know that it used to be that when you went to the grocery store you handed your list to a clerk who would put everything together for you. That was when there were 800 items in grocery stores instead of 40,000! In 1916, a Piggly Wiggly in Tennessee was the first grocery store that let people do the shopping themselves. Secret whisper

What do you think Sadie is telling Sophie?! She’s whispering a secret! When we whisper, we don’t use our vocal cords like we do when we talk – and our vocal cords are what helps us make different sounds and also sing. Try singing in a whisper – it can’t be done! Only one sound comes out when we whisper! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

There are so many different kinds of apples in the world that if you tasted a different kind every day it would take you 20 years to taste them all! Pie Contest

Sophie and Sadie are off to the county fair – and I’m not surprised that they found the pie contest, but I am a little concerned that they are going to get in trouble for eating the pies! What’s your favorite flavor of pie? Did you know that in the 1600’s eating pies was against the law in England because people enjoyed it too much!? Apple picking

It’s apple picking time where we live! Sadie must be picking apples from a dwarf (shorter) apple tree since she’s pretty short. What do you think she’s going to do with them? One other fun fact about apples – the Chinese word for apple is pronounced ‘ping’ which also means peace. cornfield

Walking through a cornfield is so cool!  The corn this time of year is really tall and it makes a beautiful music as the wind goes through it. It also has a lovely smell. Did you know that there is corn grown on every continent in the world except for Antarctica?!
