Grand Canyon National Park Rafting

Grand Canyon National Park Rafting

Well, last week Sophie and Sadie were at the top of Grand Canyon National Park looking down – and this week they are at the bottom looking up! And that’s really far up – it’s over one mile (6,093 feet!) from the bottom to the top of the canyon. Glad they are in a gentle part of the river. The rapids can get pretty crazy in some part of the Colorado River! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the […]

Everglades National Park

Everglades National Park in Florida

I can’t blame Sadie for being kind of scared – alligators, crocodiles, snakes! And lots more birds and reptiles and mammals and insects – in fact, while most US National Parks are about preserving beautiful and amazing places, the Everglades in Florida are about preserving an area for all of these beautiful and amazing plants, animals, and insects! Acadia National Park

Sophie and Sadie are off to Maine! To Acadia National Park – the first national park east of the Mississippi River. Since it is on the Atlantic Ocean, there’s water and land things to do – and a lighthouse! And whales! I’m not sure whether Sadie is waving to Sophie or trying to warn her about the whales…good thing they are friendly! Computer

I have a feeling Sophie and Sadie are hatching a plan and doing some research on the computer. There really isn’t much to say about computers, other then we’re glad they exist so we can be in touch with you! Daffodils

Yay for Spring! Beautiful yellow flowers everywhere – dandelions and daffodils. Although daffodils also come in white and orange and even lime-green and pink! Daffodils bring happiness – and they also bring poison! Make sure you put them in a vase of their own or the sap in their stalk will kill the other flowers. Dandelions

It’s spring! Dandelions are such a fun happy sign of spring. Not so long ago, people used to want dandelions to grow in their yards! They are useful as food, medicine, and dye for coloring. The name comes from the French and means ‘teeth of the lion’ because the leaves are jagged like a lion’s teeth! Melting Snowman

There comes a time in every snowman’s life that they must melt…but it’s sometimes sad just the same! It’s sweet that Sadie is trying to prom the snowman back up! Actually the biggest snowman that has ever been built was actually a snowwoman! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Bird Feeder

Some people like to feed the birds in the winter so they can enjoy seeing them up close. Other people think that it’s better for the birds to find their own food! What kind of birds and how many come to eat all depends on what kind of seeds you put in the feeder. There are birds that like to eat from bird feeders and birds that like to eat what they find on the ground. One of the tricky things […]

Snow shoveling

Looks like Sophie is working hard – it also looks like Sadie is about to be naughty! Did you know that snow is not white!? It doesn’t have any color – but as the rays of the sun’s light go through the clear snow it makes it look white. But if the snow is deep enough, the light going through the snow can look blue! Icicles!

Most of the time we see icicles on houses – but they are so beautiful when they grow on trees! And they are fun to touch and hold, but you have to be careful because they can be very heavy! Icicles grow when it’s freezing cold and sunny. The sunlight melts the ice and snow – and it starts to drip. But then the freezing cold air makes it turn into ice again. Every drip that turns to ice adds […]
