Off to the museum!

Sophie and Sadie are off to the museum! Museums are such amazing places – so much to see, so many different kinds, so much to do…what a gift! I wonder what they will find in this museum… Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Pumpkin

It’s definitely pumpkin season – pumpkins pumpkins everywhere. Pumpkins come in different colors – orange, of course, and also red, green, white, and yellow.  They can grow pretty big – this one is just the perfect size for Sadie to rest against. Building a hut

I actually think that they are building a fort – but they told me it’s a hut, so that’s what we’re calling it. It is pretty amazing how we can make places to stay safe and warm and dry out of just about anything. Max just moved into the neighborhood – they all seem to be cooperating and are certainly doing a good job building the hut! cornfield

Walking through a cornfield is so cool!  The corn this time of year is really tall and it makes a beautiful music as the wind goes through it. It also has a lovely smell. Did you know that there is corn grown on every continent in the world except for Antarctica?! kayaking

I just learned to kayak this week and now Sophie’s giving it a try. It’s hard work! But it’s nice and quiet and calm – and that’s just why the native people near the arctic circle invented kayaks about 4,000 years ago. Being so quiet made hunting easier! Now people mostly kayak for fun. Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Desert Island

I always thought a desert island was what all of the pictures of tropical paradise islands with sand and palm trees. Turns out I was wrong! Desert islands are deserted islands, meaning no one lives on them. They sure do look restful. tire swing!

Wow – this is really a fun swing! Don’t you wish you were on it with Sophie and Sadie? There are so many old tires that are starting to be recycled in very cool ways – as tire swings, of course!, and also under playgrounds to make the ground softer and more bouncy and also mixed into the asphalt on highways to make them last longer. Crested Saguaro

Grandpa Al looks pretty cranky, but he’s’pretty fun! Crested Saguaros are very rare – scientists don’t know what causes the cresting – maybe lighting, maybe freeze damage – but it sure is cool!  I think it makes them look like cauliflower.
