It doesn’t look like Sophie’s umbrella is going to help her stay dry with Sadie jumping in the puddle! Puddles have a funny definition – basically they are any water that is shallow enough to walk through and not deep enough to float a boat or raft. It’s that time of year with the squirrels running around gathering up acorns for the winter. Squirrels, woodpeckers, and deer eat acorns – and people can too! But not straight off the oak tree…unless you want a tummy ache. People have to either cook the acorns or soak them in water for a long time to make them safe to eat. Looks like Sophie and Sadie found a beautiful place to go hiking. Pine trees are so tall and strong – and have a lovely smell. Instead of big leaves that fall off in the winter, the leaves of pine trees are shaped like needles and they stay on all year. The shape is perfect for wintertime, since the snow slides right off!
