Fireworks in Cleveland!

Sophie and Sadie are back in Cleveland for the fireworks! They got an awesome view! The Chinese were the first to invent fireworks over 2000 years ago! And today they are still known for their fireworks – over 90% of the fireworks in the world are made in China. Bloated Belly!

Well, they didn’t eat the WHOLE thing, but pretty close! Those are some full bellies I see there. The word ‘belly’ comes from the Old English word for a stuffed bag! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

And now we are 5! Happy Birthday

So, that must have been the secret – and the reason to go to the grocery store! It’s our birthday and we are 5 years old. Those cakes look yummy, don’t you think?! Thanks to all of our friends –  we love you! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Secret whisper

What do you think Sadie is telling Sophie?! She’s whispering a secret! When we whisper, we don’t use our vocal cords like we do when we talk – and our vocal cords are what helps us make different sounds and also sing. Try singing in a whisper – it can’t be done! Only one sound comes out when we whisper! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Melting Snowman

There comes a time in every snowman’s life that they must melt…but it’s sometimes sad just the same! It’s sweet that Sadie is trying to prom the snowman back up! Actually the biggest snowman that has ever been built was actually a snowwoman! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Sledding!

Sleds have been around for a long time! The Inuit people (we used to call them Eskimos but they prefer Inuit) made sleds out of whale bones – but mostly sleds are made out of wood or metal or plastic. Of course, you can sled down a snowy hill on top of just about anything flat, like a big piece of cardboard or a cookie tray! The sled Sophie and Sadie are on looks like it’s plastic to me! Click […]

Icicles!

Most of the time we see icicles on houses – but they are so beautiful when they grow on trees! And they are fun to touch and hold, but you have to be careful because they can be very heavy! Icicles grow when it’s freezing cold and sunny. The sunlight melts the ice and snow – and it starts to drip. But then the freezing cold air makes it turn into ice again. Every drip that turns to ice adds […]

Cupcakes

What could be more fun than decorating cupcakes?! – well, maybe eating them! Did you know that it wasn’t until 150 years after cupcakes were invented that someone thought to put frosting on them. I wonder what took them so long? Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Puddles

It doesn’t look like Sophie’s umbrella is going to help her stay dry with Sadie jumping in the puddle! Puddles have a funny definition – basically they are any water that is shallow enough to walk through and not deep enough to float a boat or raft. I think a better definition is ‘fun to splash in!’ Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Hay Ride

For some people hay season may mean allergies – for farmers it means getting food stored for the winter for their animals – for the rest of us it means all the lovely things that come with fall…including hay rides! Sometimes tractors pull the wagon and sometimes it’s horses. Hay is the name for dried grass. Farmers pile it into hay stacks, roll it into round bales, or squash it into rectangular shaped blocks. Click on the image below, or […]
