kayaking

I just learned to kayak this week and now Sophie’s giving it a try. It’s hard work! But it’s nice and quiet and calm – and that’s just why the native people near the arctic circle invented kayaks about 4,000 years ago. Being so quiet made hunting easier! Now people mostly kayak for fun. Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Desert Island

I always thought a desert island was what all of the pictures of tropical paradise islands with sand and palm trees. Turns out I was wrong! Desert islands are deserted islands, meaning no one lives on them. They sure do look restful. shark!

Wow – good think Sophie and Sadie are safe in their boat! Not all sharks attack people, but I don’t think I want to take the chance. Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Prickly Pear

It’s so fun to see Sadie’s photos of her trip to Arizona! It’s funny that the fruit of a Prickly Pear is more often called a ‘fig’ than a ‘pear’ and in Spanish it’s called Tuna! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Flying!

We love to travel and this week we are off to visit Sadie’s family and friends in Arizona!  Can’t wait to see who we meet! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Zebras

Something a little different – when I think of zebras lately I’ve been imagining them with waves of heat around them.  Isn’t it so cool that zebras like being near each other – and that is part of what protects them.  All of the stripes together make it very confusing for any animal that would want to eat them! Lion

Lion’s are called the king of the jungle – but they actually don’t even live in the jungle!  They live on the plains and grasslands, which might be part of how their roar can be heard from so far away. Sophie and Sadie have a pretty cool place to watch the lions from up in the sky! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Giraffe

Our friend is on a safari in Africa and we decided to join along (in spirit!).  My favorite memory from the safari that I went on years ago were the giraffes.  They were amazing!  I wonder what Sophie is looking at?  What do you think? donkey

Donkeys are really amazing animals.  They are very smart and work very hard.  Their milk used to be used to feed babies. They have been helping people for over 4500 years!  They are also known to be stubborn which might be why I like them so much!
