Carrots

Carrots are a root vegetable – so the colorful crunchy part that we usually eat is hidden under ground. Usually they are orange, but they can also be red, yellow, white, or purple! I’ve had all of the colors and I can tell you they don’t taste exactly the same. People have been eating carrots for at least 4,000 years, but they’ve only been eating orange carrots for about 400 years. Orange carrots were developed by Dutch carrot growers for […]

Monarch butterfly

There are so many interesting things to learn about Monarch butterflies! Did you know they can fly up to 2,000 miles to spend the winter in Mexico? They can even fly all the way across the Atlantic ocean! But when it comes time to lay their eggs, they fly to North America and look for Milkweed plants. The caterpillars (before they turn into butterflies) can eat a whole leaf off the Milkweed plant in less than 4 minutes! Click on […]

Seedlings

All seeds are ready to come to life – they just need water! They don’t even need dirt to start off with. Sometimes we plant seeds directly into the ground – and sometimes we start them off in a little bit of dirt until they have sprouted into a seedling and are strong enough to grow on their own in the garden. Adding dirt to the garden

Starry Night with Cactus

I don’t know about you – but I think Sophie and I have the same idea….that sure does look like Sadie in the Starry Night! Just like Van Gogh’s famous painting called Starry Night – this one has parts that are a little different that they actually look in real life. That’s why Van Gogh belonged to the art school called post-impressionism. Can you see the moon and the stars and maybe even the wind?! Click on the image below, […]

Museum – Tiffany Stained Glass Window

Artists connected to an art movement called Art Nouveau believed that even things that we use every day like windows and lamps and houses should be beautiful works of art. Louis Comfort Tiffany (his father owned the famous jewelry store) was famous for using pieces of different colored glass all glued together to make windows and lamps look like paintings. He used glass that was colored so you couldn’t see through it but the sun light (or the light bulb) […]

Turkey

It’s almost Thanksgiving – which is all about turkeys. Even if you don’t eat them! One of the ways to tell a boy turkey from a girl turkey is by looking at their poops! Boy poops look like spiral coils and girl poops look like the letter J! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Pumpkin picking

Looks like Max found the pumpkin he wants. He’s pretty strong! Although the biggest pumpkin is about the size of a full sized Polar bear, so in comparison it’s pretty small. Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!
