Fireworks in Cleveland!

Sophie and Sadie are back in Cleveland for the fireworks! They got an awesome view! The Chinese were the first to invent fireworks over 2000 years ago! And today they are still known for their fireworks – over 90% of the fireworks in the world are made in China. Acadia National Park

Sophie and Sadie are off to Maine! To Acadia National Park – the first national park east of the Mississippi River. Since it is on the Atlantic Ocean, there’s water and land things to do – and a lighthouse! And whales! I’m not sure whether Sadie is waving to Sophie or trying to warn her about the whales…good thing they are friendly! Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Sophie and Sadie are off on their adventure of visiting the US National Parks this summer. Do you see them? They are starting off in our own backyard! If you like history combined with biking and hiking, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is for you. Leaving Home

There is a time to do research and there is a time to head out and take action! Sophie and Sadie are off on their summer adventure visiting the US National Parks. So exciting! We love taking trips. It comes from the word to lug – which is what people did before someone thought to put […]

Quiet!

It does seem like Sadie is trying to be quiet! When you’re in the library ‘shh’ is something you hear  a lot. ‘Shh’ probably comes from the word hush or shush – and those words come from the Middle English word huisst that is pronounced ‘wheesht.’ Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Daffodils

Yay for Spring! Beautiful yellow flowers everywhere – dandelions and daffodils. Although daffodils also come in white and orange and even lime-green and pink! Daffodils bring happiness – and they also bring poison! Make sure you put them in a vase of their own or the sap in their stalk will kill the other flowers. Bloated Belly!

Well, they didn’t eat the WHOLE thing, but pretty close! Those are some full bellies I see there. The word ‘belly’ comes from the Old English word for a stuffed bag! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!
