Leaving Home

There is a time to do research and there is a time to head out and take action! Sophie and Sadie are off on their summer adventure visiting the US National Parks. So exciting! We love taking trips. And when you take a trip, you have to pack things to take along…like underwear, for example. And that’s where luggage comes in handy! It comes from the word to lug – which is what people did before someone thought to put […]

Book Spine

Did you know that books have spines just like people have spines!? It’s the part of the book where all the pages come together – and a lot of times that’s where the title is so we can see it easily when it’s on a shelf. Sophie and Sadie sure do have a lot of books they are looking at in the library! I think I’m starting to understand what they are planning to do this summer! Click on the […]

Library

More research! Computers are one way to do research and books are another way – and they are just fun to read as well. Libraries are so amazing – and did you know that there are more libraries in the US than there are McDonald’s restaurants?! Lists!

Sophie and Sadie are making their walls look like mine – full of lists! I’m still not sure what they are up to. What do you think? Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Computer

I have a feeling Sophie and Sadie are hatching a plan and doing some research on the computer. There really isn’t much to say about computers, other then we’re glad they exist so we can be in touch with you! Braille

Did you ever wonder what all of the dots are next to the numbers in the elevator? They are there so people who are blind or have a hard time seeing with their eyes can ‘read’ with their fingers! Each letter or number is made up of a different combination of 6 dots. I wonder where Sophie and Sadie are going!? Museum map

After all of the art that they’ve seen, Sophie and Sadie have finally found the map of the museum. I wonder what they are looking for?! What do you think? Aren’t maps cool? I especially like figuring out what the different symbols mean. In this map there are symbols for stairs, escalator, elevator, bathroom, information, gift shop, pay, coat rack, bathroom, and snack bar. Can you find them all? Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, […]

Sculpture – Yam Masks

One of the great things about museums is we can learn about other countries and cultures. We usually think of masks as something that people wear when we are pretending to be someone or something else.  In Papua New Guinea, Yam masks (also called Babamini) are made every year to decorate yams to look like people at the Yam Harvest Festival! Some of the yams are 12 feet long – that’s bigger than 2 people! Click on the image below, or […]

Tickets at the museum

There are so many kinds of tickets! Tickets to get on the bus, raffle tickets, movie tickets, traffic tickets, lottery tickets, parking tickets, theater tickets, and tickets to get into a museum, just to name a few! Sometimes you have to pay for the tickets and sometimes you don’t. These have a tear off part at the top so the museum can keep a part to know how many people saw the exhibit and Sophie and Sadie can keep the […]
