Lemonade Stand

I know that it’s summer when I see lemonade stands popping up! I don’t know about where you live, but where we live it’s really hot and lemonade is the perfect drink to cool down. There is evidence that people were drinking lemonade in Egypt a long time ago (1500 years ago!) – which I can understand…it’s really hot there! I’m wondering if Sadie is going to drink all of the lemonade! Click on the image below, or click here, to open […]

Sprinkler fun

Running through the sprinkler has to be one of the funnest things about summer! This type of sprinkler was invented because people wanted green grass – and so it needed to be watered. Now there are much more water saving ways to keep your grass green…but lucky for Sophie and Sadie they still have one that makes water in the shape of a fan! Yves Klein Blue

Some painters use brushes to paint – some use other things like turkey basters or wooden sticks. Yves Klein used people! And he loved the color blue so much that he designed a shade of blue that he named after himself! He would put paint on his models and then pull them around the canvas or have them lie down on the canvas – like a living paint brush! Sophie seems to be having fun sliding around on the paint! […]

Collage – Matisse, Icarus, and Sadie

People have been making collages for hundreds of years – but it was artists including Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso that brought it to modern art. A famous collage by Matisse is called Icarus, who in Greek Mythology was the one who wanted to fly. I want to to – and I think Sadie does also! How about you? The word collage comes from the French word for glue. You don’t have to actually use glue to make a collage […]

Hockey

Did you know that before ice hockey pucks were invented, frozen cow poop was used as a puck!  Wow, the things we learn.  There are lots of different ways to play hockey – on ice, on roller skates, on the street, under water, with a ball, with a puck… Sophie and Max are playing street hockey – looks like fun! Building a hut

I actually think that they are building a fort – but they told me it’s a hut, so that’s what we’re calling it. It is pretty amazing how we can make places to stay safe and warm and dry out of just about anything. Max just moved into the neighborhood – they all seem to be cooperating and are certainly doing a good job building the hut! Prickly Pear

It’s so fun to see Sadie’s photos of her trip to Arizona! It’s funny that the fruit of a Prickly Pear is more often called a ‘fig’ than a ‘pear’ and in Spanish it’s called Tuna! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Who doesn’t like balloons?!  We’ve got three balloons because we are almost three years old. I hope Sophie catches them before they fly away! Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!

Sophie and Sadie are playing leap frog!  Sadie is pretty good at bouncing.  I wonder what the frogs are thinking… Click on the image below, or click here, to open the coloring page, then download, print, and start coloring!
